About

Parade is a literary magazine at Tufts University intended to act as a creative forum and space for people of marginalized identities to tell whatever stories they feel are worth telling, through poetry, prose, art, photography, and more. Literary magazines serve as an outlet for self-expression by allowing people to share their work.

Regardless of content, these stories resist the current dominant, hegemonic narrative prevalent in mainstream media because they will represent the voices of individuals who don’t fit into this narrative: individuals including, but in no way limited to, those of Color, those with disabilities, and those with non-normative gender identities. Parade’s goal is to highlight and prioritize those individuals by publishing their work.

If you feel underrepresented by pop culture, if the politicians who represent you don’t reflect your background, if your favorite characters, or on the flip side, least favorite characters, don’t look like you, speak like you, or think like you, please submit. We want to read your sonnets about cats and your stories about microaggressions, we want to see your photographs and admire your paintings. Let us hear your voices!

Tufts students can send submissions directly to tuftsparade@gmail.com. Please also fill out and attach this submission form in your email. You must include your name in the submission, but we can publish pieces anonymously at request. Feel free to send us any other questions or inquiries at tuftsparade@gmail.com.
